Accessibility
A public institution that is not accessible is not truly public.
The Bookhouse Conservatory believes that books, literary culture, and the spaces we build around them should be open to everyone. Accessibility is part of our mission, not an afterthought.
This website
We aim for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. In practice, that means:
- Sufficient color contrast throughout.
- Full keyboard navigation, with a skip-to-content link.
- Semantic HTML that assistive technologies can interpret accurately.
- Forms with proper labels.
- Animations that respect your device’s reduced-motion setting.
Our future spaces
As we plan the Conservatory’s reading rooms and public spaces, we are designing them to be welcoming and navigable for visitors of all abilities. We will share detailed accessibility information for our physical location once it exists.
Report a barrier
If anything on this site is difficult to use, please tell us at hello@thebookhouse.org. It helps to include the page, a description of the problem, and any assistive technology you were using.
